Hey all,

what is the most important Hardware to speed up Reefmaster?
CPU / RAM / SSD ?

When I create my big maps with Sidescan Mosaic it could take a night to create the map.
I would love to speed this up, but I'm not sure were my bottleneck is.

Which part of the process are you finding slow?
When you say "create map", are you talking exporting to AT5?

thanks for your quick response.

I'm talking about the export.

I'm exporting in Atlas 12, without OSM Map.
Min Res. 0.125 - Max Res. 32 (no background filling)

The mapped area covers 440 km², includes 219 Tracks and 6 Mosaics each around 1 km²

I started the export at 10:19 am and now (1:55 pm) RM is still "Generating AT5 Map).
The Temp Folder (Source) grows 5 KML and 5 PNG Files every minute. But 99.9% are empty PNG Files.

Neither my CPU nor my RAM is under big pressure.
The Project is on a SSD and the Temp Folder is also on an SSD.

So I was wondering how I could speed up this process.

What does your map look like Pat? Do you have a few mosaics in discrete areas, which have been added to a larger project?
If so, this might not be the most efficient way to export it, since the entire project area is rendered, exported and then processed by the IMC. It's probably better in cases like these to export each mosaic separately and combine them on the card. What does the rest of your map look like? Maybe easier if you can post a screen shot of exactly what you are exporting.

Yeah, like i sayed: 6 Mosaics each around 1 km² in a 440 km² Map

How do I combine them on a card without having to switch Map Source on my Lowrance?
I can't post a screenshot right now, I'm affraid of crashing RM while generating. It allways "freezes" when i move the map while generating.
I'm exporting a part of the "Rhein-Delta" in the south of the Netherlands.

Hard to give specific advice without seeing your map, but assuming you only need raster for the parts with mosaics on them, then it would probably be much faster to export those mosaics separately (from the mosaic edit window), as png image files, with the "split into tiles" option checked. Make sure the resolution you choose is high enough for your finished AT5 raster (8 pixels per metre minimum for 0.125m pixel size). Once you have your separate mosaic raster tiles, you can run the raster process on the IMC by hand. This skips the export step in RM, and means you can update individual mosaics as required without re-exporting the rest. You export your map in vector only from the project, and combine with the raster files on the card.

But when I open the map I can't check the ShadedRelief field in the map options on my Lowrance.

What am I doing wrong?

So you exported the mosaic images from the mosaics within RM (not the project), and then ran the IMC yourself for the raster process? What settings did you use in the IMC? How big are your raster output files from the IMC - do they look realistic in size?

I exported them like this:

Then ran the IMC with this settings:



The IMC export seems to be fine.

Go to Advanced Options->Raster Options and make sure it is set to "Shaded Relief Imagery" rather than "Satellite Imagery".

Most likely with the version of the IMC you are running, it is defaulted to create for the Photo layer rather than the Shaded Relief layer.
