I made some map for my Garmin with Reefmaster... Sent them to GpsMapEdit to create IMG, and then, using MapSetToolKit, sent them to MapSource....

So, I want to be able to select other Garmin Topo map in MapSource, AND my bathymetric map from ReefMaster to send them to my Gps unit... It is working now... I have a pretty good looking map, BUT, other Garmin Topo data are hidden under the bathymetric map, but not just over the water cover, each side too... Like my bathymetric map had background...

In GpsMapEdit, I tried to import only contour file, isobath, and Contour Shp files... Not the Inverted shoreline... But in my Gps unit, MapSource data are always hidden under that bathymetric map... Seem to be a hidden bacground on that bathymetric map...

Someone can help ?

(And plz, is there an admin who can change my username, remove my email and just keep fvignola) ???

Thanks

Fred

Do you have the map type set to "transparent" in Mapsettoolkit ?

Yess, it's set to Transparent in MapSetToolKit, and GpsMapEdit...

But in MapSource, it's what I see:

Mapsource only displays 1 map at a time. You need to compile the maps together if you want to see a different chart in combination with your own.

With MapSource, I can select Topo Canada Map, select region, then switch to another map, named Quebec, select the region, and then transfer it to the GPS, and I see the two map combined in my Garmin unit... But when I add that one, it cover the other maps...

But not sure to understand well... And I don't know if I can combine these maps with mine... And if yes, don't know how...

Firstly your Garmin charts are proper Garmin charts, not charts made with cgpsmapper. Secondly they are most likely NT type charts, which arent compatible with the charts you make with cgpsmapper. They are designed to be compatible with one another, yours isn't. Yours is a Bluechart. How about you make you own bit of Topo along the river using gpsmapedit and the aerial imagery it has access to ?

Ok, I understand well now...

Making a bit of topo with gpsmapedit sound a good idea... But again, how to do it ? Can I do that with GlobalMapper too ?

You can do it in any GIS application. GPSMapedit is probably the handiest if your intention is to create Garmin charts as that is what it is specifically designed for. From the looks of your first post you may be confusing Cgpsmapper and GPSMapedit. GPSMapedit is a graphic frontend for Cgpsmapper.

I almost got it...

One option is missing in GpsMapEdit, we have :

N - Not Transparent
Y - Transparent Map without Background object
S - Transparent Map with Transparent Background

Option missing: NON Transparent Map with Transparent Background

Is there a way to build it with cGpsMapper command line, whit this kind of option ?

Now I see Depth Data, litle color, and I see Garmin topo Map Data without background over it (Y - Transparent Map without Background object)...

I don'T know what I've had done, but all white colors from bathymetric map are now the same color of the land... All the other color are ok...

I tried to make full map again, from ReefMaster to MapSource, and nothing to do... White is now land color... Whatever I do... Even if I don'T send Garmin Topo map to GPS...

Seem to be my Gamin Unit who don'T want to display the white anymore ?????????????

Not easy... Enought for today... Hope to get some suggestion until the next time I'll work on that...

The default background object for the Garmin charts is "Land", your was "Water".It is now "Land". You should either create a background polygon and set it to Garmin type 0x104 on level 2 , or grab Imgtool 1.7.10 from the net and change the background object type in the TRE parameters. You can fiddle with all sorts of things here.

Thanks for your Help Anglingcharts !!!

Create background polygon ? I don't know how to do this and what software to use...

I tried to open it with Imgtool, but 1.8 (didn't find 1.7), trying to edit TRE parameter, but what I see is Parameter 1 set to 0, Parameter 2 set to 4, Parameter 3 set to 23 and Parameter 4 set to 17...

How to change the background object type in that ?
