I see a parameter called "Sea in the background", and it is already cheked...

PS, land color instead white are only on the Gps unit... In GpsMapEdit and MapSource, the color white is where it should...

Ok, I understand what you said and how to do it... I already done it set the type to 0x104, while importing the Shoreline shp file(waterbody)... It's set to 0x0104 "Navico Water"... Like I said, in Gpsmapedit, it's white, but on the GPS, it's land color...

Look like a bug with my Gps... Tried to reset it to factory default yesterday, and that didn't solved my problem...

Dont panic

Set your unit to work as an external drive (USB mode). Browse onto it and move the file called gmapsupp.img from the Garmin folder onto your HDD . Do not delete anything else. Send it to me at the email address on my website. (anglingcharts)
Once you have removed the gmapsupp.img from the unit you should only see the basemap, and you can start again. I suggest you start off at the beginning and try something simple and standard.

I also need the mp file.

I made some map for my Garmin with Reefmaster... Sent them to GpsMapEdit to create IMG, and then, using MapSetToolKit, sent them to MapSource....

So, I want to be able to select other Garmin Topo map in MapSource, AND my bathymetric map from ReefMaster to send them to my Gps unit... It is working now... I have a pretty good looking map, BUT, other Garmin Topo data are hidden under the bathymetric map, but not just over the water cover, each side too... Like my bathymetric map had background...

In GpsMapEdit, I tried to import only contour file, isobath, and Contour Shp files... Not the Inverted shoreline... But in my Gps unit, MapSource data are always hidden under that bathymetric map... Seem to be a hidden bacground on that bathymetric map...

Someone can help ?

(And plz, is there an admin who can change my username, remove my email and just keep fvignola) ???

Thanks

Fred

Reading the manual for your device would help......

You cannot view multiple types of Mapsource file simultaneously. static.garmincdn.com/pumac/915_OwnersManual.pdf ..Your Topo charts are well down the list. Bluecharts overwrite everything.
You want page 103.

Hi Fred,
I have changed your username as requested. You will need to log in as just "fvignola" now (not your full email address).

Fred sent me the files, and it was simply resolved.

Garmin charts are very fussy about geometry. The land polygon was bad. It is always best to split the land polygon into two, its easy with a river, but with a lake you need to be more imaginative. What you want to try and avoid is a polygon with a hole in it, because with Garmin this is just asking for trouble ! Keep it simple.

Its simple enough to do in GM or Qgis, where you can just split the polygon along a line, in GPSMapedit you need to subtract a section between the lake and the edge of the map and create a new polygon to fill the space. Its a bit of a fiddle sometimes, but worth it.

To fix Freds problem I simply chopped the bottom and top off the chart where the lake met the edge (a few meters) , then used "extract all elements" to "unjoin" the land polygons on each side. Its worth hitting the tools - special - remove jitters in polygons" too. Fred had over 600. He now has a white background.and a nice chart coming along.

A Great Thanks to Trevor who helped me a lot... It was not simple... I don't speak really well english (to speak it's ok), but there is a lot of technical terms which are a lot complicated to understand when it's not your first language... Thanks for your patience Trevor...

He is the Master ! And I'm sure than a lot of people will do great chart too, because of him...

Thanks Again Trevor... My map are now fantastic and without you, I would never been able to make them as great...

And don't forget, if you come to Quebec Trevor, it will be a pleasure for me to offer you my fishing guide service to catch great landlocked salmon, for FREE ! ;)
