Hi Matt,
I'm a long time Garmin sonar user and use SonarTRX to process my sonar data. I have recently added a Humminbird Xplore with Mega Down/Side imaging to my sonar capabilities and purchased Reefmaster to view and post process the data. I am extremely impressed by Reefmaster and look forward to version 3.0.
I work with public safety agencies and conduct searches for vehicles and missing persons underwater. The vast majority of public safety agencies use Garmin Marine Electronics and Garmin specifically markets to them.
MARINE FIRST RESPONDER SOLUTIONS
When working on a recent missing persons case, a drowning victim, I use SonarTRX to post process sonar data and then export mosaic's to Google Earth Pro so the incident command has sonar data they can evaluate and send searchers to assess anomalies. When working on a cold cases, normally searching for a vehicle that is associated with a missing person, I use Google Earth Pro mapped sonar data in my reports to the investigator.
I also custom build remotely operated sonar search boats that can be rapidly deployed and operated from shore. The main reason I use Garmin is their Active Captain app allows me to see and adjust the sonar from shore in real-time with a tablet through WIFI.
Having Garmin sonar support in Reefmaster, and the Sonar Viewer, would be an absolute gamechanger for public safety agencies that use Garmin. SonarTRX is great for what it does but it's a really convoluted process to post process data and export to Google Earth Pro. Reefmaster, and especially the Sonar Viewer, would drastically simplify assessing sonar data during active searches. Reports I submit to investigators would really benefit from Reefmaster processing.
Please consider adding Garmin sonar support to Version 3 or in a future update.
Thank you.
