Hi. Might be nothing, but I've noticed that since I've finished my second project, the RM program seems a little jittery. Gave me a warning yesterday that there was insufficient memory when I tried going from one project to another.

I've tried to keep things simple with each map, though yesterday I did try to set up one map in Rastor instead of Vector just to see the difference. I understand Rastor might require more memory? Anyway, things are now set as they were and seem OK today, but it got me thinking. "What", or "are" there limitations to the size of the lakes you can do and should I keep finished Projects in another folder so RM doesn't seem them as it opens for a new work session?

The reasons I ask are two fold. I have one more local lake I'm going to complete (About 4-5 miles long and a mile or so wide) before I start on the "big" project which is Keuka Lake. This lake is about 19 miles long. (See pic) Will I be able to build one map for this or will I have to do it in sections, say.... South Branch, West Branch and East Branch?

It depends on a few things - the spec of your PC, and how patient you are :)

I would say that 19 miles is at the very limit of usability, and perhaps not possible depending on how much memory you have. We normally recommend about 20kmx20km as a workable maximum, but there is no hard limit imposed by RM on the map size so in theory you are limited only by memory and time - but remember that both of those are increasing by the square of the map dimensions.

I would be inclined to split your map into the various branches, and perhaps run a single RM workspace per "map group" - so a separate workspace for these maps, another for the ones you posted previously etc. You can then either combine the map components (isobaths, contours etc) into a single user map, or simply export the separate projects as separate AT5 maps (into different directories on your map card). Using RM is a much more pleasant experience with smaller maps (10-15km across).

Matt, I made map, 19 miles long... But the river I'm covering is 38 miles...

I'm not limited by my system, but with Reefmaster app. It say : "There is insufficient memory to generate map project test-all at the specified size and resolution.Try generating a smaller map or using a higher grid-cell size."

I'm sure I can do more than 19 miles with my computer... Don'T put a limit, that you don'T know please...

People are limited by time like you said, but sometimes, people are not limited by the system... Let them go ;)

If my computer crash after I tried too hard, it'S my fault, not yours, and not your software ;)

With an older quad-core and only 4 GB Memory (Win 8.1 - 64) I have no problem to do a project of 10 x 10 kilometers. The real area of water is 80 square km, covered with a lot of logfiles.

Rendering lasts a few minutes, but always does without any crash.

My largest single project is about 120 square km and has several hundred hours of sonarlogs.
