Hi all,

I'm struggling to get the raster background to show in my HDS touch. Reefmaster generates the png and kml files. I create the pgw file as instructed which Insight Map Creator converts to a _3dTexture_xxxx.at5 file. I copy this file to the ShadedRelief folder on my SDcard. Shaded Relief is selected in the HDS. All I get is the pale blue background as selected with the vector export.

NB I don't get the Export Background Raster as a "right click" option on my project tab (as described in the reference). I presume the Export Map Image button does the same thing.

Using the Reefmaster vector output also generates the Large.at5 file and the at5.xml file. When copied to the root directory of the SD card the contours display OK on the HDS. Minor contours show OK when the HDS is zoomed in. I have the major contours at 2 metres with minor at 1 metre. Using Show below zoom level at number 10 seems to work OK for me.

So I'm stuck trying to resolve this. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Hi Meggs,

When you say you don't get the "export background raster" option - that is strange. Make sure you are in the contour view and that the mouse is in open space - ie not over an existing contour/waypoint. Then you should just get the menu below. Let me know if not - and it might also be worth double checking the version you are running (in the About ReefMaster window).

What values are you entering for min/max resolution in the IMC raster window? Try running with 1 - 8. You should have more than a single _3dTexture file after generating - at least 4 I think.

Let me know how you go,

Matt

Hi Matt,

Helps if you fully read and understand the instructions - changing the min/max resolution to 1-8 fixed that issue. IMC does generate 4 files as you stated and I get the raster once I zoom in. I still have a lot of gaps in my background that I will fill in eventually. The blank areas in the raster background show as black. Is there a way of changing that or do I have to use a graphics program to fill in the gaps in the image?

Looking at the right click menu issue, I had moved the Major contour interval to 50 metres and the maximum depth in my map is just over 30 metres. When I changed the Major Contour interval to 25 metres (giving me some contours showing) the right click menu options showed as you describe. If I have no contours showing all I get with the right click is Mouse Mode.

Version is 1.5.0.8.

Thanks for your very prompt response.
Meggs.

Hi Meggs,
Unfortunately transparency is not supported on the units, and transparent areas show as black.
The best you can do is to choose a colour other than black that you'd be happier to see in the background - you can do this in the export image window. If you choose the export raster option, then the image will be exported without any contours, and with a white background.

Also, the higher you specify the max resolution, the larger the black/coloured area around your raster on the unit, and the lower the zoom level that your map becomes visible. You might find 4 works better for you - then you will not see the raster until you are zoomed in a bit further.

cheers,
Matt

Thanks again Matt,

I've been playing with this most of the day. I'll try the export raster option now I know how to get it to appear.

Cheers,
Meggs

Have come back to this after not quite being able to get it right. It came down to reading the IMC document properly.

In View Processing Modes / Raster Mode Window under Advanced Options / Raster Options there is a Filter Image Boundary tick box. Ticking this got rid of the pesky black bits....

I'm probably the only one but I thought I'd post my experiences anyway.
