I noticed that on a map I am working on had an odd anomaly. Part of a track for some strange reason just recorded about 10' to high making my map look like it had a long ridge that was the same as my boat tracked when I recorded it. I am very new to this but was able to figure out how to edit the track once I found the problem and edited out the part that was incorrect. What would have caused this to happen. Not all of the track was off, only about 300 Yds. of it. It has only happened once in 100 track recordings.

It might be useful to bring that track up in the sonar viewer and then select "show track-points" in the 2D sonar viewer window. This will show the recorded track-points over the top of the 2D sonar image and you can see how well they line up with the bottom. You can also edit track-points individually there by dragging them with the mouse (although that can get a little tedious for a lot of data points). When viewing the data points over the sonar you might get an idea of why bottom lock was lost - e.g. a big shoal of fish 10 feet off the bottom, or else it just might be "one of those things" - depending on the unit, transducer setup, connections etc units do lose bottom from time to time. The important thing is being able to notice it and to correct it.

You could always delete that track from your workspace and import it again if you want to see the points as they were (RM never makes any changes to the original sonar logs).
How dark is dark? If it's completely black there might be an issue, but otherwise try playing with the brightness and contrast controls - see this manual page for more details.
