Downloaded the trial version of Sonar Viewer. It will start and attempt to open my lowrance file. It loads the sonar data then a bar comes up indicating it's loading the side scan data. The bar fills to the end and the program just locks up. Tried it with multiple files and it does the same thing with all of them. Would like to try this out before I buy, but at this point I can't evaluate at all. Please advise if there is a fix for this.
Thanks

Hi,
The likely problem is that your system does not have a graphics card with support for Microsoft DirectX v10.1. There is a check in the program that should show an error if this is the case, but it does not always work - and a crash is the result.
To check if your system supports DX 10.1 (or later) you can run the dxdiag utility. To run, open up a "run" box from the task manager (File/Run new task) and type "dxdiag" followed by enter. Your system specifications will be shown. The value we are looking for will be listed as either DDI version, or as a supported feature level under one of the Display tabs. Note that the "DirectX Version" field refers to the software version supported, not what your hardware supports.

If you want, click the button Save all Information shown at the bottom of the dxdiag screen and send through to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and we can determine whether the problem is your system.

Although it would be great to be able to support older computers, DX10.1 hardware support has been standard now for about 7 years, and using some of the newer features provided enables us to produce a better product.

I will e-mail the information. I believe that it shows I have DX11, but the hardware has a DDI 10. Probably won't work with my antique equipment. Guess I'll have to wait until I can afford something more updated.
