Hi,

I am new to reefmaster software, but am an experienced hydrologist. On a recent project I used my Humminbird 797 SI to record some tracks of depth and sidescan. These import perfectly into reefmaster and display great. At the same time, we had an RTK GPS rover on the boat and it was logging much more precise GPS.

Question - I would like to export the tracklog file with location, depth and time from the Humminbird to match up with the RTK GPS. I can easily export the location and depth information, but how do I add the UTC time to the export? I can see it for each point in the display window so I know it exists, but I am having trouble getting it into an export file.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any help,

Jim

Hi,
At the moment this is not actually possible I'm afraid, but we are going to add this column to CSV export shortly in a maintenance release.

Synchronising sonar log files with separately logged (higher accuracy) GPS data is something we are looking at in more detail for a later RM release. The main issue at the moment is that it is not always possible to get an accurate start time for a sonar log (HB sometimes record this in the DAT file, Lowrance don't store this at all - so we have to use file time). Data within the file is always stored as a millisecond offset from the start time. For a synchronised GPS log to be useful (especially for viewing sidescan in situ) then the log and sonar files need to match very closely. We have made some progress by finding the "best fit" between the positions of two log files and then fine-tuning manually whilst viewing sidescan over the map view.
