Ok so I am trying to get satellite raster maps into at5 so I can see them on my Hds lowrance. I've spent many hours trying through SAS and insight map creator with no success. I've run the IMC for 10-20 hour long builds that result in tons of at5 files that may units won't recognize..... I've read threads on here saying "do this" but I can't get it to go. I'm stuck with 7gb of at5 files and they won't read no matter what I do. So after having little success I thought I'd give reefmaster lite since it had great reviews. Now my problem is most of the tutorials say "click this" and I don't have that button.....? Or right click and select this option..... But i dont have that option. So I'm extremely frustrated. Can reefmaster lite do anything or do I need e full version? Can satellite raster maps be made in e light version? If I don't need depth charts yet just a satellite image should I skip reefmaster fro that task? I bought it hoping it would solve what ever step I'm missing doing it through SAS and IMC on their own. But alas no better yet!

Please someone help me get satellite images on my hds10 and 12. I'm going to a lake in Canada with absolutely no maps or charts. I really want to get this done.

Right now I load the tiles for the various zoom levels in SAS. (Zoom 12-18 for example) then i open IMC. And run the keyhole mode and make a kml. This seems to work. I can open this kml and see my downloaded maps at the various zoom levels in google earth with makes me think we're doing good to this point. next I put the kml and the SAS cache folders in IMC raster mode and build to a folder. It runs and I have a giant folder of at5 files that result. That's it and my hds does nothing with these when I put them in.

Neither edition of ReefMaster supports export of background images to AT5 in any form, so if you bought ReefMaster for that purpose then I'm afraid you'll be disappointed. Others on here can give you better information than I can about using SAS plant to produce AT5 background maps, but as a general principle I would strongly suggest that you start with a small area and get that working before running massive IMC builds. What files are you processing through the IMC? A set of image and kml files? Make sure that you have the max and min resolution in the IMC set to appropriate values - you could try 1 and 8 to start with. Do your runs end up with a folder named BoundAT5s? What are the contents of the folder? When you put the SD card into your unit, does the unit say that it is loading charts? Finally, do you have Shaded Relief selected for the chart display on the unit?

Yes I get a file called boundat5s. Inside are a list of the at5s that's it (see picture)

Yes I have it set to lowrance and shaded relief.

I have don't several smaller trial sets at only 1 zoom level and I have been using raster settings of 1 and 8

Here's what I have now:

Download google earth area tiles at multiple zoom levels

Export kml for these zoom levels of the same area to desktop
Move this kml into the SAS cache sat folder where the IMC will get the images to build
Open IMC process mode raster
Add folder (SAS cache sat)
Build........
copy at5 files to card try......fail
Make a "shaded relief" folder on the card and move at5s into it..... Fail

Anything you see wrong so far?

Looks like it is working, but on a 1-8 level you will need to zoom in fairly close to see the imagery. make sure your cursor on the HDS is on the actual lake.

so I only need at5 files on the card? No xml or large med small or vector files? Just the at5's? And I don't need to load them or do anything in the Hds? It should just load on its own?

It worked this time! Not sure what I did differently though. I put the kml file in the SAS cache is that what I wasn't doing right? I can't just direct IMC to the kml in another location like the desktop?

Anyway thank you to this forum. We will see if I can get bigger projects to work!

One question.... I can only zoom out to .5 miles befor it reverts to the base map. What do I need to change to get out to say 5-8 miles? And I'd like a little more resolution zoomed in is that just a matter of adding zooms 17,18,19 to the project?

When I return from my trip I'll be ready to load my sonar logs and get to work in reefmaster. Winter project I suppose

The min and max zoom can be fixed by changing the resolution values; 1-8 is quite a small range, but generates quickly so useful for testing. Decrease the minimum and raise the maximum and you should be able to view your image at all zoom levels. The generate will take a lot longer in the IMC and the resulting files will be bigger.
