We are leaving for our annual trip to the rock studded lakes of Northwest Ontario. I have a buddy coming for the first time and would like to share my saved trails with him to keep him off the rocks. The lakes we fish are LOADED with rocky reefs that can come up out of no where and claim outboard parts.

Does Reefmaster have the ability to view my HDS trails and then convert them to a format viewable on a Humminbird? (898 HD SI)

If not, any suggestions on a way to do this? He is pretty worried about hitting rocks and would rather not follow me around all week.

Thanks!!!

Yes, it's possible, but you need to export your HDS trails as GPX files, unless you already have them as sonar logs (RM will also import USRv3 trails, but these do not contain depth information).
Once you have trails in GPX, sonar log or USRv3 format, import them into RM as tracks. You can then simply save the tracks in Humminbird format.
If you want to combine multiple tracks into a single HB track (which makes it easier to style on an HB unit, as you only need to configure one track, and also takes up less of the internal track storage), then add all of the tracks you need to a new user map and export that in HB format.

I have exported them as GPX from HDS to a card. I imported file into RM but I do not see them when I view map in contour view. Can they be made visable as a line where I traveled when recording sonar log files? I would like to remove redundant/duplicate trails to "unclutter" screen. I just can not see them at all in RM.

I also have another question.
Will these be different than the HB tracks when I send to Humminbird which will make up bathymetric map? I am guessing they will need to be imported into internal storage on Humminbird unit.
Just want to make sure they show up as trails to safely follow, not depth contours.
I am a bit usure of terminology as these are called "Trails" in HDS and I believe "Tracks" in HB.
Thanks again!!

Make sure you don't have "exclude zero depths" checked during import - it is checked by default, so if there are no depths in the track then you went get any data points. The option is under the Track Import Options section of the Import GPS Assets window.
Trails and tracks are the same thing, and these tracks will look just the same as any other in the HB unit. They can be styled in a number of different ways by playing with the unit settings - solid lines, dashed, dotted etc.

Can I make them visible in RM?
I would like to remove duplicates to simplify routes.

They should be visible in RM so if you can't see them they have not imported correctly. What format are you importing from? USR or GPX? Double check that the "exclude zero depths" is not selected, as tracks without depth will not import any data points at all if it is. The tracks should then appear just like any other.
