Hi, I just started using the program this week. It's a steep learning curve.

I can put bound AT5's on the HDS and view GPS images.

I can use a vector map along with the bound AT5's to merge the two on screen

How can I (or can I) view a raster map with gps imagery on the shoreline/ islands?

I tried loading a .kml file into reefmaster and exporting raster with background image but it doesn't export this way to the HDS (I'm assuming due to shaded relief?)

Thanks

In case anyone ever has the same question,

The answer was making sure an AT5 palette was selected in RM (which I hadn't, so I had only blue/white shaded contours). Switching to an equivalent AT5 palette made the vector maps look nice enough, despite not getting shaded relief

Hi,
You could combine satellite imagery and a shaded relief export from ReefMaster, but you would need to run the IMC yourself. You need to add both the satellite imagery and the shaded relief image to an IMC project and run the IMC in raster mode. Note that the IMC layers images according to their native resolution, with lower resolution (pixels per geographic distance) images rendered underneath higher resolution images. This could present a problem with very high-resolution satellite imagery, in which case there are other options (i.e. layer the images first to produce a single image for use by the IMC).

Thank you Matt

I have done this and I can get a coloured band by exporting shaded relief and/or background raster, but it doesn't show any contours.

Is it possible to make a bound at5 folder comprised of the GPS background + the preset setting "AT5 Map With Colour Gradient Shaded relief"

Thanks. I'm really impressed with the software.

Hello sheikyerbouti, I am doing the same thing you are. I process the satellite map and the RM map separately.

the satellite image creates a Bound AT5 folder with files.
I then will write a project or usermap to the root of the SD card. I uncheck the raster layer option.

RM writes 2 files, an AT5 and XML.

i have done this on HDS5 gen 1, HDS7 gen2, and HDS12 gen2.

not saying this is the correct way, but it is the way it works for me.

Below is a pic of the maps on my HDS 12

Thanks wishin'

My biggest mistake was after I created the new background image; I ran IMC in vector mode to try and overlay the contours but IMC exported into a folder "Bound AT5's" and I never looked in the folder to see it was an AT5 & XML and not what I thought were more "Bound AT5's" (3Dtexture.1 ect)

It seriously took me a week to circle back to that one mistake. Like someone lost in the woods lol

I found that learning how to use QGis and merging an image of the shaded relief and sat imagery, then using IMC in vector mode to export the contour shapefiles as separate AT5's has worked (Plus qgis is great for drawing polygons and rings)
