I have a completed map that I have used in my HDS that I would like to share with a friend. He has a newer Humminbird 898c HDSI. I tried to follow the instructions on configuring maps for Humminbird display. But when we inserted the SD card into the unit, it seems to only display the tracks as a series of dots over a preloaded map. These were the actual trails I made as I was collecting data for map. No contours are shown. As I followed instructions to change color of these, it did but I never had any contour lines (depths) shown, only trails.
The file names were: 000.ht, 003.ht, etc. all inside a root folder: MATRIX
I suspect this is a simple error but I am not familiar with Humminbirds and creating maps for them.
Anyone want to help me?

It sounds like you might have exported tracks instead of a map?
When you export a map, you will end up with a series of track files with the names ---.ht -> xxx.ht. These names are fixed by HB, but individual tracks have names stored within the file. Once the tracks have been loaded (you should get an "Upload NAV data from SD card?" prompt), then you should have tracks with names of the form <map/project name>C0/1/2 for major contours, <map/project name>SL for shoreline and <map/project name>m for minor contours. The exact tracks you get will vary depending on what options you choose during export, but you should always get at least once C track. These are the tracks you need to style as solid lines, so that they display as contours.
