Hi

A friend of mine has Simrad NSS 7 Sport, and uses GPX to upload tracklogs (with depth) to Navionics. He also send these to me, but I can`t seem to get them to work in RM. In the manual it says "Tracks contained in GPX files from Lowrance™ units cannot be used to create maps, although they can be imported as zero-depth tracks." So I guess it`s safe to say this also applies to Simrad. :)

So for the questions:
Why can`t it be used? When I open the file in notepad, I can see that there are depths in the file.
Is there any way to work around this? A lot of units only have one slot for memorycards, so GPX would be a great way for people to both view a commercial map, and log at the same time.

Depth is not part of the core GPX format, so manufacturers must provide their own extensions if they want to include depth. RM has to handle each extension separately, and so far we support Garmin and Humminbird. RM could also be configured to handle Lowrance extensions - it's just that we haven't implemented this yet because Lowrance depth extensions are (I think) a relatively new thing. In the past, GPX track files from Navico units did not contain depth at all, which is why that note is in the manual.

If you forward me one of the files, I will take a look.
