I picked up an Elite 7 HDI and was wondering if, to get the most out of the unit, someone could fill me in on its limitations, palettes, atlas version etc... Thanks in advance

The main difference as far as AT5 is concerned is that the Elite series do not support transparency - so you can't put semi-transparent depth areas over a background image (e.g. sidescan). I don't have experience of the Elite first hand, so maybe others can point out some other differences, if there are any.

Remember to update the software in your unit. The initial software has a few bugs that has been resolved in later updates.

I have Elit 4 HDI and with some manipulation using software RM and GM I can do raster map AT5 with a translucent layer. To do this in RM, I set the visibility of the raster created from logs and saves it in a format .KMZ, then GM on the satellite picture impose raster of the RM, save in .KMZ and then through IMC receive a map with a translucent top layer.
Much to ask Matt to realize the possibility of saving a raster (log) together with the substrate (satellite, map Ozi) directly, without using a third-party software.
This will greatly simplify the process of creating cards.
