I am new to use Reefmaster and in need of some coaching.
I have been able to export a file and use it to some degree on my hds8 Lowrance unit. I finally imported the
Google earth shoreline, but when I try to export a file I get Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException'
I noticed that when I put the chip in my unit the file comes up but doesn't have any color shading. I'm wondering if the demo version has a limit on file size . Also I am mapping a part of a lake that has been mapped before, and the shoreline comes up when I view it in Reefmaster. Do I still need to use Google Earth and import a shoreline or can I use the one that already comes up when I build my map.

Hi,
What exactly are you trying to export when you get the out of memory error? Something doesn't sound right.

Shorelines are important when generating maps because they define the extent of the water body. The can be used to provide a depth of zero at the edges of the water, which is used along with recorded depths to interpolate water depths between the boat track and the shore. Shorelines also act as a boundary to stop depths being created over land (e.g. across a narrow spit of land with data on either side). Shorelines on the unit don't help with any of this - they must be imported or created in RM.

If you are not getting any colour shading on your unit, you probably need to make sure that ShadedRelief is active - demo map exports all use a raster background type that is only visible when this unit is set in the unit.

I have recorded sounding from a section of a local lake. I imported data from Lowrance hds 8 sd card and shoreline from Google Earth. I installed the insight map creator program to convert to a Lowrance at5 file. I built the map and right clicked on the map to get to the export command and export to a file. When the Lowrance program pops up to convert to its format, it starts and gives me a Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException prompt. I can make it export the file, but it doesn't have the color pallet. The map is plain. I am sure I don't know the ins and outs of the software and apologize for the time spent on me. I am using the vimio video online as a tutorial. I must admit that I haven't spent any time looking at the help files with your software but will be soon. At this point I know I am going to buy someones product. I don't like 100 dollars a year for Insight Genesis. Then 100 dollars the next year and so on. I must say it is very easy. If I can make great maps with Reefmaster for use in my Lowrance unit and get proficient at using it, then most likely I will spend 150 dollars once. Is there a better way to learn how to use the product? I must say that aside from some of the learning setbacks, the 3d map view of this project is impressive.
