Does the new module allow the use of sidescan data to create Bathymetric contour maps also, or can these only be made from downs an data?

Good one Tom - I remembered reading this question then didn't get round to posting an answer :)

The short answer is no, there is no extra depth information in the sidescan channel. It does carry a depth, but only for directly underneath the boat.
There is a longer answer posted somewhere on this forum - I will see if I can find it and post a link to it.

I thought that might be the case. So in short, you can create bathymetric contours for sections you can get the sounder over and have to rely on sidescan mosaics for images of what you can't get over (like reef edges).
