When I browse through a sonar strip I try to scale the viewer so the objects show up with the correct shape, a tire should for example be round. If I click on the horizontale scale the slider can't be moved, it will go to max zoom after one click and the slider will not change after that. The only solution to get a proper scale is to use the scroll wheel (after the zoom is at max) on the mouse and carefully zoom out until the dimensions match. But if you later wants to zoom in on some object the scales get lost again when you zoom back and you have to start the scale procedure again.

I will look into it and see if I can see what is going on.
As an alternative; the way I tend to zoom the SS view is to alternate zooming in with the mouse-wheel and double-clicking in the view, which forces a "fit to width". I find this easier and quicker than using the scale sliders, and with a bit of practice it's quite easy to get the zoom you want, with the window filled.

Very soon we will launch the SS mosaic module, which has "in-situ" review of SS data - where it will always be scaled correctly..

So I will be able to look at the sonar strip without any downsampling in correct scale?

The moasic will be downsampled, can that be adjusted depending on how big area that is surveyed?

Are both heading and COG avaliable in the sl2 format so you can position the beam properly?
Is avaible for each ping or at lower rate?

I'm a bit curios since I plan to do a mosaic of a harbour with lots of boats which means a lot of turns and not that much straight line driving. With a hull mounted sonar it should be possible to get quite good mosaic if you keep the speed down in the turns so the outer beam get enough pings and use the heading information. If I get a GPS compass I can get accurate heading at 10Hz but if that data isn't avaliable in the sl2 format then it's of no use.

Edit: Just found out that SL2 format has both heading and COG for each ping, that should make it possible.

Hi Hakan,
In the "live" sidescan view, that shows the sidescan in-situ within the current track screen, the resolution is somewhat reduced (but still reasonable). When the sidescan image is saved, it is saved at full resolution - and we have a number of export options that can be used to facilitate export of very large mosaics (MBTiles and KML superoverlays).

We won't be using heading information in this release, although that is planned for a future upgrade.
We used a smoothed track-path which gives generally very good results, so long a reasonably steady course is maintained and enough speed not to "wander" too much.

Here are a couple of examples, HB and Lowrance, one showing a very curved section of track - results can still be usable:
