Hi,

I have just bought the program and the ad on for bottom composition, but the B.C-menu is still grey.

I have tried the program on some SL2-files (Lowrance HDS7) I collected last summer, but as I said, the menu for BC is grey.

Is there some settings I shall make, either in the plotter (Is it possible that I dont have the BC-data in my SL2-file) or in the program (have I missed some crucial setting)? I haven't found any "how to import bottom composition-data information" on the page (yet)...

Hi Herman,
Bottom composition data is taken directly from the sonar log files, and should always be available if ReefMaster was able to import the sonar correctly. If the sonar data was imported for a track, then the sonar button will be enabled on the track edit screen. Is this the case?

Reasons sonar (and bottom composition) data might not be imported:
  • If the sonar log is an SLG file recorded with the Low Quality setting. These files are compressed and we cannot read them, although they are not often used any more since SD cards are so cheap and have such high capacity now.
  • The option Use Slg2Txt.exe was checked during import. This option uses a Lowrance program to convert a sonar log to a text file, and the data in the text file is then imported into RM. The text file does not contain information that we can use for bottom composition. The solution here is to un-check this option and re-import the files.
