I used to do this about 15 years ago to log data from a sounder to a laptop with a GPS puck using software called Seaclear. However, I cannot remember the exact set up.

There is a guy who posts on the Hulltruth forums in the States. He goes by the name of Abbor. Try searching his posts or contacting him as he is very knowledgable.
