Hi,

I have searched the forum topics but have been unable to find a similar thread to my exact question. I am in the process of purchasing RM to help with some estuary mapping I need to do for a client, but wanted to make sure it has a capability I'm after first. For sonar data collection I use a Lowrance Hook 7 Tripleshot strapped to a Hobie.

Question - Does RM have a function/tool whereby a user can draw a line across a plan view of existing sonar collected data (assume 2D format) and extract /process from this alignment a simple 2D bathymetric cross section with X and Y axes? See my mark up using one of the screenshots on the RM website to explain what I need to produce.

If RM cannot do this direct, is there a way I can do this by maybe extracting some sort of file from the RM platform and then processing in another program (i.e. GIS or Excel) to present the 2D cross section as I need it?

Thanks for your help on this one.

DLW.

This is not possible in ReefMaster at the moment, although it is a function we have thought about for RM3.
You should be able to achieve what you want by exporting your map project in the ESRI grid format (GeoTiff coming in RM3), importing as a raster to QGis (or similar) and then using a plugin there - there seem to be a few plugins around that do exactly as you describe.

I think you can use the free Profile Tool plugin in QGIS with an raster, exported from RM.
