Got the software awhile ago, so I'm still a noob trying to figure it all out. I've looked over many tutorials, but I feel my data generation process isn't quite addressed in the tutorials I've seen.
I use a smart transducer (NMEA 018 output), a survey grade GPS for position, and essentially a tablet running RM to collect live bathymetry tracks. I think I'm getting lost in the tutorials among the lexicon of work spaces, maps, projects, tracks, and such to the point that I have not been able to generate contours of the area I just surveyed. I don't know if it's my data. Or, am I missing a vital step in the process? I'm moderately tech savy (honest!), but trying to self learn this app has me challenged.

Can somebody give me (or point me to) a simple work-flow process that starts with live track data?

Mike,
I assume you have followed the make a map tutorial here: reefmaster.com.au/reference2/index.htm?context=310
Live tracks are treated in exactly the same way as any other track, the only difference being that the current "live" track is being extended in real time. You create a map project by adding one or more tracks to a new map project, drawing your required map area and clicking the generate button. In the simplest case, that is all you need to do, and you should end up with some sort of contour map visible in the "map" view of the map project. You can then configure your map further; add shorelines and islands if required, configure contour intervals etc.

If you can post a screen shot of what you've got in your workspace, I may be able to give you some more specific pointers.

Matt
