I can't find it anymore how to add tracks to a layer (?) so they become visible as polylines in the final map. Who can help me out?

Two ways you can do it Danny; right-click on a track in the asset list and choose "Add to Map Project as Layer" OR just drag the track from the asset list into the Map View of a project.

Yes, you can do it by multi-selecting before the right-click/drag, or else you need to copy/cut and paste the individual track components from one layer to the other.
