Hi,
this is probably a very basic question but any way...

Does the program work with the Lowarance hds10 gen2 and side scan?
what do i need besides the program and computer to run it?

I am new to the sounder but would like to get the most out of it.

cheers

@DiverDown

All you need to do is record your sonar log (record all channels) to a SD card in your HDS-10. I use a 8GB card in the second slot (my map card goes in the first SD card slot). This gives you enough capacity for a few days recording. I save all my sonar log recordings on a spare hard drive (filed under date) and import the recorded files into ReefMaster. Over time you will have enough recordings to create a comprehensive map of the areas you frequently visit.

It is very satisfying seeing your own maps on your GPS. Good luck and happy mapping...

cheers,
Meggs

Here is one of my maps (screenshot from my HDS.

Thanks very much for the response, sounds very easy.
I do a bit of fishing but im mainly under the water collecting sea shells, having detailed topography will certainly help the search.

is it hard to load you maps back on the sounder?

Just copy the map - at5 format - to a SD card and insert it into your unit. Dont forget to set your unit to the map-type 'Lowrance' instead of Navionics, but usually you will be asked, when you insert your SD with the map.

You may want to download sonar viewer from the Lowrance website as well.

www.lowrance.com/en-US/Support/Sonar-Log-Viewer/

It is a very basic application, but will give you a good idea of the nature of the bathy you are plotting so you can see if there is anything you need to go and have another look at.

Yes it works with your HDS, but Reefmaster does not support StructureScan (SideScan+DownScan=StructureScan) at this time. I belive it will support StructureScan at some point, so tick off the box in your HDS menu saying "log all channels" anyway. This way you will have alot of sonarlogs including StructureScan when Reefmaster starts to support it. I`m assuming you have a normal 2D-transducer as well as the StructureScan (LSS), and it`s this transducer that creates the part of your sonarlog that Reefmaster use for most of its functions.

The only thing you need in addition is an SD-memorycard. Your HDS accepts up to 32GB cards, but 8GB will hold data for several days of logging.

Congratulations on your HDS Gen 2, it is a very good unit. (I have 3 of them.)

Hi Alain,
We do not support Lowrance structure map files, although it is possible to import a calibrated image of a sidescan mosaic and use that as a background in the project 2D and 3D views. We do plan on adding our own sidescan mosaic capability some time in 2014.
