Hello
I was looking for a software package for bathymetric survey and came across reefmaster
I want to make contour maps of an area and perform some volumetric calculations (dredging pre & post survey)
Reefmaster seems suitable of what I need and a great and a low cost solution but have a view questions.

I was originally intending to buy a echosounder (Echologger ECT400) and use my RTK GPS unit, both sending data over the serial port in NMEA0183
But now I have seen the side scan sonar capability I would love to have that as well as that could be a great addition.
The only hardware I have now is my RTK survey system, and now need a transducer (s?) and survey software
I am not sure what the best way is also because I would like to have a vertical accuracy of say 5 to 10cm for my bathymetric surcey

Could I only use a sonar transducer separately and feed this into Reefmaster? or do I need a complete Hummingbird unit to get sonar data files
I already have RTK GPS so to buy a complete Hummingbird unit with integrated gps seems a waste of money

What would be the best system for me?, what should I buy
Thanks for your advice

Hi Michiel,

If you just want to do survey the Echologger ECT400 with your RTK GPS would be suitable I think. If you prefere using Sidescan also, most of the equipment has GPS included. To get more accuracy you are able to connect your RTKGPS to a Humminbird/Lowrance/Simrad.
