working on a saltwater coast. Using both 450 and 800 khz logs from Elite-Ti5 + Totalscan
Added two logs to the map project and the green higlighted areas in the attached screen capture lost detail in contour lines.

Since I'm a scuba I do know that the left map is much more accurate and rflect the actual bottom than the right one.
Why do this happen? Is it not good to have 450 and 800 khz logs overlap?
How to properly benefit from both frequencies logs?

First, using Elite Ti and TotalScan depth in RM is from your 2D and not your DownScan 455/800. That is offcourse unless you manually use the Sonarviewer in RM to move the single depthpoints according to the bottomline seen on 455/800.

Secondly, this looks like a result of the type of interpolation used in RM, or lack of quality-control of your sonarlogs. If you are adjusting one sonarlog after the 455-image in RM, and the other after 800, you will get different results due to the different coneangle. 800 is more narrow-beam then 455 and will not even out structure as much as 455.

But if your goal is as accurat mapping as possible your best way of achiving that is to use a ducer with a more narrow coneangle for 2D, like Airmar P66 or Lowrance own 50/200/455/800-HDI if you want both narrow coneangle on 2D and DownScan.

Thx TC,
I'll stay with the Totalscan. At this point what do you best reccomend? Going with 455 or 800 all the way?
I'm trying to make a bottom structur map too.

My recommendation is to use 200 kHz from 2D. :) Only in areas where it is impossible to use 2D for quality-control in RM, like in places with vegetation, do I use downscan for depth. The strobe-like conenagle of downscan makes it a less then ideal source for depth.

At present the logs are made with both Sidescan and Sona on.
Sometimes the sideview is ran at 455 other times at 800.
Sonar 2D is always @ 200khz

So for what you're saying it doesn't matter if the 455/800 is used for Sidescan since the data is retrieved from the sonar channels.
And I'm not correcting depth manually .

again thanks for your reply. Reviewing the map project, I found that two overlaping sl2 logs where missing sonar data as you can see by the attached pictures. Dunno why.
So now I know how to be aware of the data.
