I installed and purchased Sonar viewer a few months ago and up until a couple of weeks ago it worked fine loading SL2 files generated from my Lowrance HDS10 gen 1 sonar. However, for the last couple of weeks every time I attempt to load a sonar log file the software appears to be loading the file properly but then hangs after the progress bar on the 'loading sidescan' screen seems to reach completion. It will just sit there for an indefinite period and go no further. When I press ctrl-alt-del to stop the program the pop up window says the program is running - nothing about 'not responding' but in fact it's not responding to any command at that point - completely stuck.

The only thing that I know changed recently is that I swapped out the gen 1 downscan/sidescan transducer for a gen 2 transducer. Nothing else has changed. Any guidance as to how to resolve this issue will be appreciated. As it stands now the software is unusable for me.

Are you using an AMD graphics card that has been updated to the latest firmware in the last month? If so, this could be the issue - there is a problem here that is affecting a lot of different graphics applications. We are looking into it at the moment and hope to have a fix soon, but no promises at the moment on when an update will become available. This is unlikely to be due to your change in transducer, but you could try loading an older file just to double check - this would be interesting, if so so please let me know. If we are unable to get the SV going with your graphics card we would of course be happy to refund.

I checked and found that I my computer is not using an AMD card. It is just the Intel Graphics card that was in the machine when I bought it. I just tried to open a log file recorded last December which I am fairly confident that I previously opened successfully with the SV software. I got the same results with that file that I am with the more recent files. It did occur to me that there were some windows updates installed on this machine recently. Could the issue be related to that?

I suppose it is possible, although we haven't had any reports until now. Would it be possible to send your dxdiag output to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. so that we can take a look? To get this output, run dxdiag (run command/dxdiag) and choose the save to file option.

Did you try to run Reefmaster Viewer as an Administratior? This did the trick to me.

I ran dxdiag twice - once was the 64 bit version and will send both log files to the email address requested.

Thanks for the suggestion Danny. I had not done this previously however this worked for me as well. SV opened every file I tried successfully when I ran the program in Administrator mode.

Thanks Danny - that is really strange, so we will have to look into this. Can you confirm that the issue is resolved when running as admin?
