Hi, I've been a longtime user of version 1 but have upgraded for the extra speed and easier depth correction, fantastic updates. I've figured out most of my teething problems with version 2 but I'm having an issue exporting a map how I'd like it.

In version 1 I used to create all my bottom scan images manually in IMC as per the guide you did way way back before there was an option within reefmaster itself. I have a lot but they don't change often so I used to spend the 3-4 hours it took once every 6 months. Then because I map such a large area I had 2 projects "North" and "South" which I would generate and then export all elements on to a shared map. I would then adjust the transparency on this map and export it in AT5 format, excluding any raster layer, giving me the 2 files to copy on to my HDS Gen2 touch (large.at5 and at5.xml). This combined with my manually created (using IMC) ShadedRelief folder was perfect. The end result on the device was exactly as I want, a 60% opacity that when I zoomed in would show the bottom scans.

Because of the way maps are handled in version 2 this approach doesn't seem to make sense. So what I've done is leave my 2 map projects as they are when converted from version 1, adjust opacity and export them separately using project based naming. I export each to their own folder "North" and "South". It's at this point I'm not sure what the best approach is. I have 2 folders containing 2 files each, ***_large.at5 and at5.xml

Copying both these folders (4 files) on to the Gen2 touch gives me my 1 continuous chart but without any opacity? When I zoom in instead of getting the nice background affect I had with my version 1 generated map I just get a solid image of the bottom scan with the hard black area around it.

Is there a correct way of having 2 maps exported to 1 device maintaining opacity?

Thanks in advance,
Paul

Opacity information is held within the at5.xml file, and I believe that only one of these will be read (and also, possible, that it has to be in the root folder? Can someone confirm?).

The simplest solution, if you maps are contiguous (sounds like they are), is probably to export both maps together. This will take a while, of course, but once you have your shaded relief folder you might be able to skip the raster export in future and just export the vector layers, which will be much quicker (again, export both maps together).

Edit to add: to export both maps together, multi-select them in the asset list and use the right-click export function. This capability is new in RM2.

Unfortunately assets multi-selection still not work: I wrote about it in another topic:
reefmaster.com.au/index.php/forum/suppor...map-replacement#8823
Checked with latest version - still no luck :(

Hi Matt,

Thanks for the reply. I did some playing about and what you said is right, there can only be one at5.xml file and it has to be in root. Used the multiple selection export as you suggested and it works great now.

Vol, I was able to multiple select Maps no problem, just held down Shift or Ctrl the same as any other application?

I am able to select in UI too. Did you check result - I see isobaths and contours only from 1-st of selected project.

I was using the generated chart yesterday at sea and it worked as expected including the isobaths and contours from both projects. Perhaps there is an issue with certain export formats? I export an AT5 for use on my HDS Gen 2 Touch and a KML version for messing around at home in Google Earth...both of those worked great.

Seems I've found problem - if two or more projects selected, and I press "Export" button, only 1-st project converted - RM2 ignore multi-selection. But if I righ-click on selected items and export, all works as Expected.
@Matt, may it be fixed?
