Good evening ladies and gents.

Is there a way to manually create tracks and import them into reefmaster so that I can create manual depth contours?

I will be fishing a unplotted river in about a months time, this river is very shallow and notorious for sand banks. I have gone to GE and created the river border and imported it into reefmaster all good. I have manually created the islands as well and imported them into reefmaster. Ref GE 1 and RM 1.

Know I would like to manually create a path in GE of the sandbanks and import them into RM with a .5 depth, so that when I get to the water I at least have a starting point of where the shallow water is. Ref GE2

I have created a path in GE, exported it as a KML converted it to a csv, adjusted the depth to .5ft and then imported this data as a track into reefmaster. I have then added this track to the project.....but I dont seem to get a contour

Any advice or help?

The way you describe is a good way of getting depths into RM, but it won't appear directly as a contour. Instead, the data will just be used as depth points in the same way as any other sonar log.

When you imported the contour with 0.5m depths, did you import it as a track in ReefMaster and, if you look at this track in the track edit window, are the depths correct?

How did you add the track to the project? You should add it using the "add to project" menu option, so that the depth points appear within the project tracks view. You should then generate the project, ideally with other depth points that you have gathered, and RM will create the contours.

Can you post a screen shot of the tracks project view with the imported track added?

Ok Matt 1st thing was to create a path in GE, I saved the path as a .kml file. I then converted the file to a .gpx file using kml2gpx.com I then imported the .gpx file into RM to get a track... (The depth data is however ZERO, so I exported the path as a .CSV file, and corrected the depth to what I want it to read using excel or sheets and saved the new .csv file)

Next I imported the modified sheet back into RM and got a 2nd "Adjusted" track. The original track was then deleted. The adjusted track was then added to the project.

Hehehehe and Volla I have a dummy contours which I can now use until I get real data.

OK now it works :) :)

So from this I made a map.....RED been Shallow don't go and BLUE been navigable depth.

Once I have been on the water and have got real logs from the sonar I can delete the old MAP and Tracks and create a new one using real data.

OK - cool. Another option, if you want the precise contour that you drew in GE, is to create a user map and import either paths or polygons to the appropriate custom group. Then you can export to AT5 and you will see your lines (you can style them in the UM first). Also you could add your shorelines in the same way.

ah....very clever Boss, and for the purpose of the exercise, a lot quicker and easier than creating dummy data, conversions and the such like.

Your the man Matt THANKS :)
