Hi,
Exactly when does this error occur? When you click on a workspace name in the startup window to open a workspace, or click the "New workspace" button? Could you please tell me a little more about your system; Windows version, whether you are trying to access any files across a network and whether you have administrator rights on your PC. Have you been able to run ReefMaster successfully before? |

Hi Matt, Thanks for the reply.
The "Open or Create New Workspace" window opens first and stays open. When I select a "Recent Workspace" or create a new one (after i successfully write the name and browse the location) I get the Unhandled Exception. I am running windows 8.1 (64bit) on a Mac Partition, with plenty of memory. I have admin rights. A year ago i successfully ran a trial version of Reef Master, but it was removed a while ago. Originally i tried to open a workspace I had created with the year old version, but I still cant create a new workspace. Thanks Trevor |

Could you please try the following:
Find and delete the file user.config in the following location (note that the precise name of the "ReefMaster.exe..." folder might vary): C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\ReefMaster_Software\ReefMaster.exe_Url_0nnw0de53f2qq33mmhmuoiabklooek4q\1.8.37.0 Also note that "AppData" is a hidden (system) folder and you might need to change your explorer settings before you can see it. Once you have done that please restart RM and see if that makes a difference (I am thinking that an old config file might be the issue). Are you trying to open or create a workspace on a UNC path? (a path starting with "\\")? |

Matt, I went in and deleted the user.config in the folder you specified. When I restarted It did clear out all the workspace names I had previously saved, and the only one available was the demo workspace. When I selected it, it resulted in the unhandled exception... file exists. Same result when I tried to create a new workspace on my C drive, my documents
I noticed I had a folder for user.config for 1.8.32.0, and I tried to delete it as well, with no luck, same result. I am not trying to access or open a workspace with UNC path. I am trying to use the local C drive in my docs. Thanks Trevor |

Can you try clearing out your C:\Windows\Temp directory? If this directory has more than ~65,000 files then apparently the error that you are seeing can occur when trying to create a temp file.

Matt, I cleaned out the C:\Windows\Temp with no luck.
However I am now suffering issues with my Mozilla FireFox not working. So I am suspicious of a larger issue at hand. Until I resolve and/or understand more, ill keep working and report back when I am confident that things are normal on the windows side. Thanks Trevor |

Thanks Trevor. It does look like an issue with the temp directory (write permissions?) and is not an error I have seen before in the context of ReefMaster. The issue within RM is happening as a result of a call by the Windows .NET framework, so is not something we directly control either (although we do create temp files during file exports). Could it be an issue with the Windows user you are using to install/run RM?
Also double check the location of your user's temp file folder - do this by running cmd and typing echo %TEMP%. If this is a different directory to the one you checked before, then make sure it is 1. writeable and 2. does not have > ~65k files. |
