Dear reefmaster/users,
I want to use reefmaster but before i buy i have some questions. Is it possible to collect tracks and logs with lowrance 4 elite chirp AND raymarine dragonfly 4pro and use both logs to create one map? (maybe because different files or something) Is it possible to use a own made map on the dragonfly device because there was a new update. wich files can my dragonfly read because i only know jeppense and navionics but nothing about wich kind of files. If there is someone with experience with dragonfly please help!

I believe that it is possible to import depth and position information from the Raymarine via GPX files. This will enable you to create depth maps, but does not provide any sonar or sidescan information. Within ReefMaster data from all sources is treated the same, so you will be able to combine depth information from Raymarine with data from the Lowrance. It is possible to create maps for display on the Lowrance but not the Raymarine.

Thnx for the fast reply. Isnt there no convertation tool or something? I think nothing is impossible? Why is dragonfly the only one who doesnt support own maps. Here are many dragonfly users so no one can use own maps? Do you know wich kind of format my device can read. maybe i can find a way to convert a complete map or something. there need to be a way i think.

No, there is no way to get "proper" home-made maps on a Raymarine-unit. You can make it show a "map" created by using GPX-tracks as contours, but it is a hassle to do. I have had contact with both the local Raymarine and Raymarine Inc in the US, and they have no plans to open up for 3. party maps aside from Navionics.

I got the same statement from Raymarine Germany.

Why not buy a Lowrance Hook, Elite Ti or HDS unit? Much simpler to produce your own maps :) Just forget Raymarine for using homemade maps. They don't want it.

Actually Lowrance, Simrad and Humminbird can do this. You could work around Garmin as well, but they really don't want you to. Raymarine and Furuno absolutely not. Ray have partnered heavyily with Navionics, their latest softwareupdate with Sonarcharts Live on their MFDs is proof og that.

I make the pseudo maps with and for my humminbird. When I'm on the water it's a brass tacks kinda map without any bells and whistle, which is fine for me. When I'm fishing there is less distraction. When I have the maps up on the monitor at home they look great, and I can study them better there without fishing distracting me.
