Fred - the bottom composition icon is in your icon library in IMC is it ? It's not in mine. You need to specify an Icon that actually exists. It works better.
IMC - view - icon documentation window.

Thanks Trevor. I diidn't know that we could see icon in IMC... Problem Solved.

Icon is called PBOTTOM_2 in IMC, and not PBOTTOMCOMPOSITION_2 like it's written in the At5 Style Guide...

And Finally, point type are not important, all can have Min_Cat = Misc and Maj_Cat = Nautical and it will work, according the icon is in IMC...

One thing is now working. I'll look forward for the Swamp problem not covering blank space !

Thanks again Trevor !

You have not set the zoom level correctly by the look of things. You have the area set to only be visible below U_LIMIT 10 in the AT5 file. You need to extend the object in the GME file up to at least layer 1 to make automatically set U_LIMIT to 17. Alternatively just edit the shapefile. Once you have confirmed that its not a simple matter of not setting the zoom level in the AT5 properly let me know. Have you tried zooming in below level 10 in the finished chart ?

Fred.

Your swamp is approximately 8 miles from your lake.

I just tried with 17 and 19 and same thing... Don't look a zoom level, but more display priority...

I don't understand why it's set to NON Transparent in GpsMapedit, but is transparant anyway...

Fred,

When looking for documentation, there should have been a zip file with the name "IMC_0_7_4_0_Documentation.zip". In this zip file is a PDF containing the documentation for that application. Most of the information that Trevor is providing is also covered in that documentation.

On the ShapeToAt5 side, no one on this board is going to be very familiar with the Tier 1 or Tier 2 toolkit. Outside of a handful of toolkit partners, everyone uses the IMC to process maps. While there is some overlap between the different tools, instructions for processing with Tier 1 will not be very helpful when working with the IMC.

There are two different types of transparency in the IMC. The swamp area object is inherently transparent because it uses a colour outside of the colour library to achieve this. Such colours always appear as transparent, and are used to construct transparent icons backgrounds, textured area backgrounds etc, unlike the "other" kind of transparency which makes legitimate colors "see through".

Ok...

Instead, How would you proceed to hide missing bathymetric data with swamp ? Here is what I have for now :

(I don't have bathymetric data there because we can't go with the boat. It's why I want to replace it with swamp area)

Thanks for your help guys !

Depending on your methodology, you'd either want to have the lake polygon layered underneath the depth area and/or use a concept of an "unsurveyed area". The "unsurveyed area" can be your lake polygon cut by your depth areas or it can just be the lake polygon with a modified attribution.

Your swamp areas have transparency in the mosaic which makes the underlying chart show through. They also don't align with your unsurveyed areas.

I finally get it worked like I want, for vector...

Not perfect yet, but it's only a test. I'll design my area better.

What I did, took the isobath object, and modified it with Globalmapper to extend the area where there is no bathymetric data, and added a Swamp icon to the isoBath layer targetted. Finally it's the easiest and fastest way to do it, I think... (If you want to know the steps, just ask)...

Now, for map with Raster background, it dosen't work. I'm thinking to make something similar with an isobath exported in jpg, and proceed it with IMC with the raster... Do you think it's possible ? How to do it with IMC ? Setting ?

Thanks

Fred
