Hey guys. I finally upgraded electronics and am now hoping to take advantage of all the new technologies! I love mapping and use GIS and AutoCAD at work on a daily basis. I am excited to bring this to my world of fishing.

It sounds like ReefMaster has the flexibility to do all that I want. Can it work in both US and metric units? I can't say I remember seeing this answer on the website anywhere.

What Lowrance units are compatible? I upgraded to HDs Gen2T units and am sure RF works for them. I still plan to use my old LCX-27c unit as well. Can RF output in a format readable by the LCX series?

I am interested in exports to Google Earth and GIS. Can trails, waypoints, and Structure Scan overlays be exported to GE and GIS using RF?

Thanks!

I can't give you a categorical answer on the LCX, but perhaps someone else on here can. You can almost certainly get a map of some sort to show on there, either by exporting directly from RM in AT5 or LCM format, or by exporting Shapefiles from RM and running them through the Navico IMC tool with a lower Atlas version (e.g. 7). If none of that makes any sense to you, don't worry - I can elaborate if required.

In answer to your other questions:

Yes, you can use US or metric units.

RM will work very well with your HDS Gen 2.

RM can export maps and trails to Google Earth, Shapefiles, CSV files and more, so you should be able to get your data into just about any GIS app that you want.

Thanks for the response Matt. I started playing around with the demo version and its making a lot of sense. Most of the water would be mapping fluctuates a lot. I would feel most comfortable exporting data from my fish finder into excel, doing my manipulation, adding in additional shore points from a DEM, and then bringing back into Reef Master. RM will easily export the raw Lowrance XYZ points for processing right?

Yes - you can export data points in CSV format for import to Excel.

Hi fillet,
The areas I map have a large tidal range (you wrote the water you map fluctuates a lot). Rm has a very good module to put manual water ranges over time (or tidal using a separate module). Not sure that you would need to export to excel - rm has very good methods to adjust your data to get the best out of it.
