Hi Reefmaster,

I`m considering to buy your product but I`m wandering how the license works and particular in relation with the updates?
If I step in now for how long can you donwload new updates before you have to pay again?
Thanks in advance.

The upgrade policy of ReefMaster is that all minor version updates are free, but that upgrade charges will apply when moving between major versions.

For example, we are currently shipping v1.5 - all updates since the first v1.0 release have been free for all users, and will remain so until we reach v2.0. When we do release a version 2.0, there will be a charge to move from v1.x. The upgrade cost will be at a significant discount to the cost of the whole package.

This upgrade policy is a common one for software, and of course there is no requirement to upgrade - you can continue using v1.x for as long as you like. The rough game-plan now is to have a v2 sometime around the middle/end of 2014 - so something like an 18/24 month cycle for major versions.

We will also be releasing some paid additional modules, such as bottom hardness and sidescan mosaicing, within that time-frame.

Thanks for the quick answer Matt!
Good to hear that you don`t have to buy a full license all over again and only a small amount when a major update comes out
This is a lot more affordable then the Lowrance Insight Genesis software where you have to buy a full license every year and therefore way to expensive and not interesting.

Is RM also supporting Structurescan images like it was/is in Dr Depth?
If not, will this be avaialable in (near) future updates?

Sidescan mosaicing is on the roadmap, but we haven't started development yet. We hope to get something out Q1 2014, but this will be an additional (paid) module - although the cost will be reasonable.
In the meantime, it is possible to import existing mosaic images in kml format (eg from DrDepth or SonarTRX) and display these over RM depth models in the 2D and 3D views.

Nice Matt!
I`m lloking in the features but I do also miss the bottom hardness option.
Is this also not supported right now?

All going well, bottom hardness/classification should be in beta within a couple of weeks, and released a month or so after that.
