Purchased the sonar viewer a few weeks ago. Having issues with the program just stop responding after several minutes of running. The computer in use is Dell with Windows 10 factory installed. Can this be fixed? I love the program while it is responding. Thanks

What happens when it stops responding? Does it just seize up or do you get an error message? Does it happen when you are doing something with the application? Is so, what?
Also would be useful to know the specifications of your computer, and whether you have a separate graphics card - if so, what are those specs?
How big are the sonar files you are looking at? (i.e. what is their size on the disk). Are you looking at Humminbird or Lowrance logs?
thanks,
Matt

Display driver stopped responding is the error message I get when it seizes up. The computer specs and graphics card stuff are too complicated for me. Where do I find this info? This computer is less than two months old and is a Dell Inspiron 15 5000 series. All updates for Windows 10 are up to date. The size of the sonar file was around 3 to 4 hours in length made on a Lowranace generation 1 HDS 8 with generation 1 structure scan (SL2). Hope some of this helps. Thanks

Hi Todd,
This sounds like a graphics driver problem. Do you ever see this error message when not using the Sonar Viewer? Does the Sonar Viewer then close after this crash/does the screen go blank or are you forced to close the Sonar Viewer yourself? I think this might be a tricky one to get to the bottom of, but it would be worth checking if your graphics card driver is up to date.
If you want to send me more details of your system, then please run the dxdiag application, save the output and send the file to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . There are some known issues with NVidia drivers after updating to W10 and this might have something to do with it.

To run dxdiag:

Press WINDOWS+R to get the Run command box, and type dxdiag, followed by return.
Once you've done this, click the "Save all information" button, choose a filename and save the file.

Hi Todd,
That's the info we need, but unfortunately it doesn't contain anything that helps us solve the issue. My guess is that there is a driver issue somewhere (I know there have been some of these during the transition to W10), but it will be very hard for us to solve your individual issue. If the problem appears only when using the Sonar Viewer and makes the sonar viewer unusable for you then the best we can probably do is refund your purchase. If you want to do this then please mail This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with your order details and we can process it.
