Anybody got a simple step by step guide for turning waypoints into labels / shape files for At5 charts for Lowrance HDS?

Hi John,
That is not as easy as it should be from RM at the moment, because we don't yet support waypoint export in Shapefile format. It's on the list for the next release.
You'd need to use another tool (e.g. qGIS), get your waypoints into that and set the required attributes for the IMC by hand. You can import GPX files into qGIS, and that should pick up the name field - which you would then have to move to a VALUE attribute, and add (as a minimum) U_LIMIT, L_LIMIT, MODE and FONT. You would then export your map from RM in Shapefile format and combine these files with your new waypoint file. There are probably easier/better tools than qGIS for this job, perhaps someone else might have some suggestions..

Alternatively import your usr or gpx into gpsmapedit, convert directly to Navico Labels (you can select the font size etc), and export the shapefile.
Simples.

John,

you'll need to use the GPSMapedit enhancements that you'll find in the tutorials section on my website. If you want to use any of the custom area formats you'll also need to use the IMC dat (MDL) file as well.

Yes, you can export waypoints to shapefiles in RM now.

In the waypints tab select the waypoints to export, then rightclick and choose
"write selected waypoints to file"

In the export window select "Shapefiles" and output folder.
I dont know witch icons that are supported, I only use them to mark rocks in the water and labels of islands.
