So we recently got a humming bird side scan that you can either mount on the bottom of the hull or in our case, rig to the side of the johnboat. We are just starting to mess around with it and this is the first that I have had to rig this way. most of my experience is in using the Klein search and rescue towable side scan. Are there any recommended settings or tips that people have found out that helps give the best return in practice. we have been working in an area that varies from about 15 meters to .6 meters and we seem to be getting a lot of feed back as well as grounding out. obviously the grounding out is more of just a case of raising the transducer.
Today I am more just asking if anybody has experience in attaching the transducer this way(or a similar way) and if there were any tips or tricks that helped you during the figuring out of it.
