I had the opportunity have a play with some of the output from the new Garmin SideVu units. It is viewable in the latest update of Homeport, and is, quite honestly, horrendous.

While the units may be great, the opportunity to actually DO anything with the files produced is zero. Homeport simply replays the screen (badly) , with no controls or facilities. A complete waste of time. I don't know of any aftermarket applications that can read RSD files yet.

Are SideVu recordings viewable on the unit. And can you mark waypoints while reviewing?

Lowrance's Sonar Viewer is not very good either.

IMO, best I've worked with is Humviewer for HB units. Color palette options, waypoint and track creation and you can export them.
