I have an HDS Live with Active Imaging that gives quite nice pictures. However, if I record to SD and load the data in Reefmaster, it looks worse than my hold 898 Humminbird. Does Lowrance have an issue with saving only parts of the data? I set the bits/ping to max in the unit...

Side scan images in sonarlogs are indeed lower quality then what you originally saw on your screen.

Old transducers- better raw data. LSS-2, SS3D give best data. Active Imaging is kind of tricks on display, just enchace of imaging.
