We are looking to outsource creating a 3D model based on Reefmaster data.

Our lake association has just completed a five-year project to map the bottom of our three connected lakes, a total area of about 1750 acres excluding islands. The actual data collection took far less time, most of the effort was finding Reefmaster, after false starts with other software, and figuring out how to use it. After exporting to a PNG and importing to Photoshop we have at last a useable map.

But now however we'd like a 3D printed model and given the weak technical skills of our team we imagine it might take more than another five years. Since we are approaching elderly status we might not have that much time.

Could we convince anyone to take on this project?

We have a completed map project and can export an ESRI grid. We need help with every step after that and are willing to pay for it.

Ideally, since our lake is ringed with mountains, we'd take our lake bottom contours and integrate them with the surrounding land contours for a unified 3D print. The lake is at 1796 foot elevation with a maximum depth of 102.7 feet and the mountains rises up to 3780 feet. It would make a stunning 3D model.

I do a lot of 3D printing, but you probably want something larger than 240mm wide. If you're slicing it up and assembling is pieces, it'll take forever lol. Probably better to find someone with a large format cnc machine. A Shapeoko could router create your model from high-density foam, which you could spray with sealer/paint for a professional appearance. Same process for preparing your shape file as the 3D print option.
