Is it possible to do custom shading after a contour chart has been exported as a shape file then converted to At5 with IMC?

Do you mean custom shading in the HDS (or Elite Ti unit) itself? I don't think so. But maybe it needs some more exploration in the IMC Helpfile ..

Danny once I have selected a palette in RM that is it, you can't go later and do custom shading, well at least the way I'm currently doing it.

If there is a way to allow custom shading on the unit itself, HDS or EliteTi, it would be nice.

You can do a depth highlight, although I find there to be little point because if you build your maps properly....every depth range is highlighted in its own colour.

I don't think I was clear, sorry.

I am talking about post processing custom shading.

I think I understood correctly: Depth shading in HDS devices, as in Genesis Social Maps. Genesis uses a two-layer overlay (AREA) Extents (AREA) Depth. But we still need the layer attributes that the device will read as shading. Unfortunately, these attributes are unknown. I think that the extremely limited capabilities of IMC will not allow you to display depths on custom maps.
As an example, you cannot create a raster photo overlay for land only

So if I understand you correctly, the answer to my question is ... "No"

Shaded relief is a raster, that need a point cloud as requirement. This is possible outside or inside the RM.

Rudzik: You can create a "only land" raster layer, but the limitation is, that a raster is a collection of rectangles and this limit the borderline to other objects as unclear/cornered.

Hello fjordfisher! Again met)))). I understand that this is not a topic where it needs to be discussed. I would like to know how to make a "Photo overlay" -> "Only Land"? If possible, what attributes of the water body outline of the points must be in order for the device to recognize water?
As for the vector shading of depths, this is also interesting to me. Maybe you know how to shade the depths processed in the RM from the device (HDS, Ti)?

For water identification from a raster you can use the NDWI (Normalized Difference Water Index) in a GIS application.

"Maybe you know how to shade the depths processed in the RM from the device (HDS, Ti)?" No chance without an additional shaded relief raster or an pre-shaded raster for th water.
If you only have lines (e. g. as shapes and not the source-point datas), you can try outside RM the following:
- lines to points
- points to raster
- raster interpolation => shaded relief
But the result can be disappoint and not possible with only AT5.

Rudzik, what you are looking for (support for land only photo layers) will not be supported through the IMC.
