Here is one of the lakes I've finished, well haven't converted it to a map yet, but that's next! (Doesn't show up here very clearly, but it sure looks good in person!

How many tracks or trails did you have to make this map ?

30 Tracks for this map. Lowrance HDS-7. Most tracks are about 128 Mb in size. Structure Scan is off as I believe it uses up SD card space faster with it on and I don't think it gives me any more information than regular sonar.

I didn't make as many passes over deep water, where I knew, on this particular lake, that there wasn't any interesting structure. Over this deep water, I just made north-south passes about 80-100 feet apart. Time was a consideration too. I wanted a good map, but I didn't want to spend all day running over unproductive water.

In other area's, I'd make criss-cross passes, even more over any thing interesting that I saw
so that I could get the most detail. This lake took me 4 days to make all the recordings. Usually from 11am to 4:30 pm each day.

Here's the "Define Map" view...

Really good coverage and high quality data - nice job!

Although of course more data is recorded with structurescan on, it does give you the option to create sidescan mosaics which can certainly add a lot to the understanding of a lake. I think with the price of SD cards now there is no reason not to record everything (less than US$10 for 32 gb, which still seems unbelievable to me!).
