The ability to put multiple maps onto one SD card. Currently, unless I haven't discovered how to do it, you can have only one map per SD card.

Create separate folders for each map on your SD card, and write the at5 files to those folders. Note that this only works for vector maps, and all available maps will be displayed simultaneously.

I just got the software last week, but I've been loading multiple maps in Rastor format (AT5) onto my sd card and viewing them in my HDS just fine. I just load every file separately. I do rename my AT5 map files upon completion so that when another is created, it doesn't have the same name. I rename the AT5 file, as well as the XML document and the Shaded Relief folder containing the 3D texture files. I had 3 maps on the card two days ago, all showing on the HDS-8.

So far, I'm loving most of what Reef Master does. Still a few bugs to work out. I'm mapping a 90-mile-long lake in Utah/Wyoming with 5 years of Dr Depth Data reformatted to CSV.

Yes since a few months you can use a short manual (german Reefmaster support page) for more than one raster on the same/or both SD-card(s) (HDS units with one or two card slots; Elite ???/unknown) and simultaneous switch to the other chart:
www.tacklefever.de/index.php?topic=5356.0

The best solution is over "Atlas Description" in the IMC. In this case you must use the shapfile export option from RM.

TJ, I tried renaming the raster based files and got nothing. Well, I got some thing... it shut both my HDS's down. You sure you weren't doing it with Vector maps? If it was Raster, could you be "very" specific about which files you renamed and exactly how you renamed them?

Thanks

Definitely Rastor maps with the awesome shaded relief using a custom at5 palette I created. The renamed files are: Swim.at5, Swim (The XML document), and Swim (The folder containing the 5 3DTexture files). Swim is just the name of a section of my lake. On the same card, I have Linwood.at5, Linwood, and Linwood. Same kinds of files (at5, XML document, and texture folders) I renamed the files on my computert where they were sent/stored in the library (My Documents-Reefmaster folder) after each project so the name wasn't duplicated with the next project. Then I transferred them all to the card when finished. I did not rename the files within the 3D texture folders. I also have another set of files with another name also on the same card. (lake is large, so many projects) Both of my HDS-8 Gen-2's accept and display them. Hope this helps you.

(They do not have KLM shoreline files--yet. I'm working on that today, as I do have the files, just didn't use them in my early projects.)

This is the same solution as from the Tacklefever site.
But the Tacklefever intuition was, additional to add different theme layer for the same area, if required. If not, the "Atlas Description" use is not necessary of course.

But for different (far away) areas on a big lake you not at any rate don't need several raster sets.

One half of my lake covers a square grid, or "boundary" 15 miles across and down, or 225 square miles! The other half is 16 miles long and 5 miles across, or 80 square miles. It won't do it in one map. I tried, and got an instant error message for not enough memory. However, I'm attempting to do it in two right now. It took nearly 1.5 hours just to generate the 225 square mile one. I have tons of data. (64mb csv from Dr. Depth, plus 280 miles of KLM shoreline from Google Earth.) In Dr Depth, it used to require 12 separate grids (projects). I may end up doing it in 3 or 4 projects just for simplicity sake. When I did that last week, I put them all on the card and the HDS read them all. I definitely have more to learn and try.

TJ, many thanks. I tried it again, following your second set of instructions and it worked perfectly. 2 raster lakes with the colors and other details I wanted on one SD card! Even fired up the LSS and ran the charts thru my other machine. It worked perfectly as well. 2 more lakes to finish and put on that card and I'm all set. Just need to wait until early spring to get out and finish recording the other lakes! Thanks again.

TJ - your job is primary vector at5.
In your case i would not use shaded rasters I would e. g. use vector over aerial raste. The aerial raster need about 1 ... 2 days on the pc (long, but possible).
But if shaded relief, i would use a GIS application: Create a raster from the vector datas and use DGM/DEM/hill shade für shading.

Now here's a crazy development. My HDS now will only display the colors on one of the two maps on the card. The contour lines are there on both, but colors only on one. However, if I delete one of the texture folders for either one, then the colors show up on the other. That works for either map. It reads them both, but only one if both are on the same card. ??? Before, I had up to three maps and color folders on one card, and the HDS read them all. Size again? Both are 1.17GB each. I did nothing different. Same everything, only just two bigger maps instead of three smaller ones. I went from having the solution, to not having it.
