I'm assuming that
Lowrance's recently announced StructureScan 3D is a form of
Phase Differencing Bathymetric Sonar (PDBS). PDBS used the phase difference between two or more receiver elements (the Lowrance units has two) to determine the angle of the acoustic return. Thus, it is possible to reconstruct a full cross-track bathymetric profile. While this feature has been available in high-priced commercial side scan sonars, Lowrance's StructureScan 3D would seem to be a first in the 'consumer' market.
While there are other sonar processing packages that process this type of data, they cost thousands of dollars. Any chance of a ReefMaster add on module to enable extracting full side-scan bathymetric profiles from PDBS data (specifically Lawrence's version)?
