it would be useful to have the ability to single step (forwards and backwards) through the data set with a keystroke when making edits to the individual data points.

Much better keyboard control throughout RM is coming next year. Are you talking about scrolling the sonar view or jumping between selected track-points in the sonar window? The current plan is to completely overhaul the way in which depth data is corrected on the sonar viewer by using a form of guided automatic edge (bottom) tracking. This should make things much quicker, and at that point we'll probably lose the display of individual track-points in the sonar display.

Oh no, .... I love the trackpoint display and the ability to move the point to the correct depth with a mouse drag. I use the mouse to click to a nearby point to edit. I just think it would be nice, once around the trackpoint of interest, we could nudge forward or backward without having to hit the play button.

I'll have to keep an eye on the updates as at this point is when I'll stop doing mine. Wouldn't this be better handled as an option instead of being mandatory?

We won't be removing anything without replacing it with something that works as least as well, or better! The idea at the moment is a guided, "semi automatic" bottom detection function. It will likely look slightly different to what we have now but will be much faster to use and will produce better results - and the option to do things entirely by hand will still exist.

X2! this promises to significantly improve my quality of life! For those who might not realize, if this feature works well it will potentially enable you to survey at higher speeds as RM will be able to correct the sonar's misinterpretations of the bottom that accompany higher speed surveying. (Correct me if I'm wrong Matt!?)

I now see that I can single step by using the left and right button on the horizontal slider under the viewer window.
