When surveying it would be great to have on the live view all the previous tracks in colour
as it lets you know where you have not been and give you a hint of what to expect
in the area

Also , having and overlay you be great as well so you can use your latest chart as an overlay

Hi Colman,
We are working on a solution for showing all tracks in the same window, in colour, with the depth colour of each trackpoint determined by the relative depth within the whole track collection. Quite a few people have requested something like this. For performance reasons we can't just show all tracks in the normal way (editable track points etc), but we should be able to create a static representation as an overlay.
One option available at the moment is to open up another window (say a contour map view of a project) and show the boat position on that as well. That way you can see your live track, and have another window (maybe at a different zoom level) showing your mapped area. Admittedly that might be difficult if you are running a small laptop display.

A static uneditable representation would be great as when your surveying you will not need it
A simple bitmap graphic would be sufficient

I'd like to second this one. I took an image of my project in the contour view with the interpolation turned down and no contour lines etc and then used that as an overlay. It was a good way to run across areas I had not gotten before but I was unable to see if I was crossing over myself.

The ability to have an overlay of all the tracks in the live view would be perfect for me.

What would interssant is to have a view of the tracks with a little calculation showing the area covered at the bottom depending on the angle of the transducer and the depth to see if the map need other records for limiting extrapolation. (each trace point may have a diameter depending on the depth / angle of transducer)
