How does this work in DD? In ReefMaster you can remove sections of a sidescan swath based on time. Is this comparable? Can you post a screen shot of this feature in action?

RM2 has a "clip image to polygon" feature which is designed to be used for exactly this kind of purpose. The idea is that sidescan images are first exported as MBTiles image files before being added to map projects as an image layer, where the water body can be used as a clipping polygon. It is also possible to e.g. clip satllite imagery to land areas, or create any number of custom polygons that can act as clips.
