From what I've read in the documentation, "live" input of depth and position data can only accomplished via wired connection using NMEA 0183 and RS-232 serial communications. Would it be possible to add "wireless" communications for those sonar systems that support Bluetooth and Wifi connections (Such as the Lowrance Elite7ti)?

Elite 7 Ti does not have NMEA-data in its WIFI-feed.

But apart from that I agree, NMEA through WIFI would be great.

Couldn't this be accomplished via GoFree? gofreemarine.com/developers/tier-1-sdk/

Both the GoFree-module and the buildt in WIFI in HDS Gen 3 has NMEA-data in the WIFI-feed. One could also use Sonarserver, which relays all NMEA-data provided to it. (I have tried them all, including Elite Ti.)

Raymarine Dragonfly PRO also has NMEA in the feed, but I dont think their MFDs has it.

I have one of the NMEA 0183 to WiFi BRIDGE units from ebay but I haven't had a chance to test it out yet.

I'll be using it in my kayak so it's small size appealed to me.

EDIT: I can't get the ebay link to work, but if you search NMEA 0183 to WiFi BRIDGE you will find it

I tested my Dragon Fly wifi only with Navionics App.. not usre if will work with other apps requiring NMEA. For sure, my Raymarine e7 wasn't able. only useful for mirroring App.

My HDS7 Gen3 is transmitting nmea over wifi and I use for several apps.
