Hi

I am relatively new to the program which seems to be doing a good job except for a few problems that I am hoping to resolve. About 1/4 of my Lowrance HDS-8 older series sl2 logs do not seem to show the active background map upon importing. Others work ok. Is it possible the positioning data is not right on these logs. Also some logs have been run to fill in uncovered parts of the lake but on regenerating the map contouring data does not take the new data into account.

Any clues as to what I am doing wrong?

Thanks

Just checked 2 logs . They are plotting in roughly at S02.00.000 and E051.07.000 and not at N045.26.900 and W079.35.000 where they should be.

Thx

Probably a glitch in the Lowrance. Seems to be ok for now. But how do I batch change the logs that recorded the southerly position. Can I subtract x degrees fom each point or to I have to relog that area?

I'd say you possibly had the datum set incorrectly during recording. Probably to Lowrance Mercator Meters. Try playing them back in a copy of the old Lowrance Sonar Log Viewer. As for converting them to WGS84 / Lat/Long, I'm not sure you can convert this as it would need to be rewritten, you could certainly extract the bathy and convert it - once you've worked out the datum you used, you'd need to export it as csv

Were the logs that show in the wrong position recorded on an Elite 7? There was a bug in some older firmware versions that stored the latitude and longitude in the wrong file positions.
Try the following: Open up your GPS import profile, make sure Lowrance is selected as the manufacturer and select the option Using Lowrance Elite 7 (or, if this option is already selected, de-select it). Now re-import the affected files and see if the problem is resolved.

Note that the Using Lowrance Elite 7 option swaps the latitude and longitude as they are imported so this will cause errors in "good" files if the bug is not present. If you have some files with the error and some without, then it is probably a good idea to create a separate equipment profile for each.
