When I edit a record I get two sonars and a Side Scan. The DS Down Image button is greyed out and can't be selected. I checked my recordings with the sonar, and the Down Image is there and plays back OK. Is it just the Lowrance that gets the DS in Reefmaster?

Wow, a question I might be able to help with.

If your Humminbird unit is a SI model, then the DI record is actually not true DI images but a work around that Humminbird came up with where they use the SI images and twist one side around and superimpose that image with the other side making a pseudo DI image. This process isn't recorded. The SI images are recorded and when played back on the unit, the unit will do the superimpose trick during playback. RM does not do this.

This was done because the SI model transducers don't have dedicated DI piezos in them, but a 2D and two SI piezos. The exception to this is the new ONIX models, which can be switched back and forth from a DI and SI piezos with true DI imaging.

Hope this helps.

Hi Green,
There is not much I can add to Gimper's answer, which is absolutely right. HB "fakes" DS in units without a dedicated downscan channel, by rotating and overlaying the two SS channels. We did consider doing something like this in RM, but in the end we decided against it as there is no new information there. If it is something that users would like to see, perhaps we can revisit that option.

For ONIX logs, we do show the downscan channel when it is available - here is an example:

Thanks Guys. Bummer. If I'd known then what I know now I'd have gone with Lowrance. These things are too expensive to replace for litle or no reason. Now at least I know to disable all my screens that have DS.

REALLY GREAT SOFTWARE MATT. I appreciate it.

HI Matt!
When will this update with DS view?
It is very necessary and expected for other users Humminbird!
For example as in HumViewer.
I hope you respect!
